LASER TATTOO REMOVAL.

How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?

At CLINIC EIGHTY SIX, we specialize in tattoo removal using advanced laser technology treatments, ensuring our clients achieve their desired results effectively. Laser tattoo removal works by breaking down the colour pigments in tattoos using short pulses of energy that are absorbed by the ink, causing it to disintegrate into smaller particles. These ink particles are naturally eliminated by our skin cells.

Tailoring Your Tattoo Removal

Our experts customize laser tattoo removal procedures by considering two key aspects: the hue of your tattoo and your skin tone. Removing coloured tattoos often proves more complex and may demand extra sessions than black-only tattoos. The best outcomes occur when there is a distinct difference between the tattoo pigment and skin tone, leading individuals with fair skin and dark tattoos to need fewer sessions. Our practitioners will conduct a detailed consultation to create the most efficient treatment plan for you.

CONSULTATION

Before we start the treatment, a consultation will always be provided. We will discuss your full medical history and complete a Fitzpatrick Skin Quiz to determine your skin type.

TREATMENT

A patch test will be completed before the start of your removal journey. This is to ensure that you do not encounter any allergic reactions or side effects. If your patch test is successful, then your practitioner will start your treatment.

AFTERCARE

After each treatment, it is important that you follow a strict aftercare routine. This is to ensure that your skin does not suffer with infections, irritation and hyperpigmentation. Your practitioner will discuss the best aftercare specialised for you and your skin.

FAQs

Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • Will I Encounter Side Effects?

Typical short term side effects can include blistering, swelling, scabbing and itching. Your practitioner will discuss any potential side effects during the consultation stage.

  • How Many Sessions Will I Need?

The number of sessions required to remove the tattoo and the success of the removal depends on each individual and their immune function amongst other factors. Your practitioner will discuss this during the consultation stage.

  • Will My Tattoo Be Completely Removed?

Whilst we can never give a 100% guarantee of complete removal, the success rate of fully removing a cosmetic tattoo is greater than a conventional tattoo. The removal process depends on many factors which will be discussed during the consultation stage.

  • How Often Can I Have A Removal Session?

It is important to wait at least 6 weeks between sessions.

  • Can I Start The Removal Process Immediately After A Tattoo Is Finished?

It is important to wait for at least 6 months after having a tattoo before commencing the removal process. The ink from the initial process needs to be in a stable state before it can be broken down and removed from the skin.

  • How Long Before I Can Have A New Tattoo In The Same Area As Treatment?

It is important to wait at least 3 months before having a new tattoo. The body will continue to remove ink after the laser session, and therefore any new pigment will not be accepted into the skin.
